What would be a really good College to attend in Washington, DC

What would be a really good College to attend in Washington, DC?
I would Love to attend Howard but the school requires you to stay on campus as a freshman. Are there any community colleges or universities that have that requirement as optional? Thank you!

Answer 1 :
Community colleges typically don't have dorms, so you can't live on campus. Almost all other schools require you live on campus at least your first year if not all years - studies have shown students are much more likely to drop/fail out if they live off campus, because they don't make friends on campus, spend less time studying, and don't feel connected to the school.
Answer 2 :
Georgetown is an amazing university and is located right in DC. I'm not sure if you have to stay on campus for freshman year but most colleges do require that.

What are my chances of going to college at Georgetown University in Washington

What are my chances of going to college at Georgetown University in Washington?

Answer 1 :
not enough information.
Answer 2 :
Since you are only 14, your chances are pretty good IF you get very good grades. Georgetown's acceptance rate is only a 20% which is very low (meaning it's very hard to get in). Get all As from here on out, and take all AP (advanced placement) classes if you can. Take at least one foreign language.
Answer 3 :
Depends on how many B's and A's and the rigor of the subjects you take. If they are highly rigorous subjects such as calculus and you get virtually all A's and hardly any B's (a GPA of about 3.8 is considered what you need to be competitive at elite schools like Georgetown) then you have a shot. Even then your chances will only be something like 20-30% (it not as bad as Ivy's - but its close). Your sats need to be well over 2000 as well (preferably over 2200). If you wish to go to an elite school then the only advice I can give you on subject selection other than rigor is to do calculus. Elite schools usually don't actually require certian subjects just a few recommended ones. But of the few that do calculus is often one of them eg Calc-tech, Harvey Mudd and Wharton at Penn require it. Georgetown is not one of those schools (it has a few required subjects - which is a bit usual and calculus is not one of them), but since it is so hard to get into you should have a backup plan. Answer 4 :
Good grades are important, but also make sure you take enough rigorous classes in high school. You will probably want to take more than the minimum recommended #. It is a very competitive school. Good SAT scores will also be important. Check out their admission's dept. website. http://uadmissions.georgetown.edu/applying_firstyear_preparation.cfm You are smart to start thinking about this now, but don't get obsessed with only one school. There are probably lots of good schools for you. Keep your options and mind open. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Good luck.
