How would you compare Washington and Lee University to the College of William and Mary

How would you compare Washington and Lee University to the College of William and Mary?
I am very interested in both schools and plan to apply to both in the upcoming months. How would you compare the schools, specifically the admissions process and the toughness to be admitted to the schools. I plan to apply early decision to one of these schools. Is there a better likelihood of getting into one over the other depending on which I would apply early decision to? Thank you very much!

Answer 1 :
W&L admits 19% of applicants. W&M admits 34%. The high school records of the admitted applicants are virtually equal. I do not have early decision information.
Answer 2 :
Washington & Lee accepts about 20% of its applicants, but about 40% of those who apply early decision, so applying early decision gives you an advantage. William & Mary accepts about 35% of its applicants, but about 50% of its early decision applicants. So applying early gives you an advantage at both schools, but more of an advantage at Washington & Lee. Being an in-state resident will give you an advantage at W&M; being a minority will give you an advantage at W&L. If you haven't visited both schools, you should because they have very different settings and student bodies, based on what we saw during our visits.

Pre-med at Washington College in Chestertown, MD

Pre-med at Washington College in Chestertown, MD?
I am interested in going pre-med in college, with no specific interest in terms of a major. Doing research or having opportunities for internships in a hospital is important to me. As of now, I have been mainly looking at more well known schools, and my top choices so far are Rice and Wash U. However, I was out east looking at schools and stumbled upon Washington College, which I had never heard of but was very impressed by. What have you guys heard of in terms of the pre-med program at Washington College or anything in gerneral? Thanks!

Answer 1 :
For pre med I would go for Wash U, Loyola or University of Chicago. sorry, not answering about Washington College. never heard of it. For any college I would highly recommend going to the college yourself for a visit, campus tour, meet with admissions and talk to someone in charge of the pre med program

Hi, Steve! That's great that you found Washington College - such a gem! As a great, private, small liberal arts school, we have a lot to offer a student interested in premedical studies. Most premed students major in Biology or Chemistry. You'll take a number of courses in both areas. The classes are small (averaging around 12-15 students), and you'll have the opportunity to work closely with professors on engaging, self-designed research projects. WC has more research equipment than some graduate schools (and with the small class sizes, you'll actually get to use it)! Professors with terminal degrees will teach your premed classes at WC; no T.A.'s will teach the classes! On the national level, students have an average of 1-2 years between undergraduate studies and attending medical schools. Recent WC grads have obtained work or fellowship opportunities at places like the National Institute of Health, Hopkins, UMD Medical Center, and Kennedy Krieger among others. Our students leave WC comfortable with conducting and presenting research, using experiment equipment, thinking critically, and writing skills.
