I am planning to attend George Washington University, and I want to know from those who have been there often or live there how is the area. I dont party or go "clubbing" so I dont mean in that way. For a serious student does D.C have a good atmosphere? Thanks!

As long as you don't leave campus, you'll be fine. The DC area in general is a sewer; lots of crime, muggings, and murders.

I have a friend who went to Georgetown and loved it. There is way more to do than clubbing in DC like outdoors stuff (hiking, biking, rowing, etc.), tons of history in the surrounding area, and museums and culture all over...and don't listen to the crime stuff, there is crime everywhere...DC is not a hole.
